Above you see the Reading Rope.  These are the skills you need to learn to read.  We start at the bottom and work our way up the ropes.  A child needs the word recognition but without language comprehension, the child will be lost.  Same with the other way around.  We work on what your child is weak on and build from there.

According to the International Dyslexia Association, Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge

What parents are saying about Arnold Reading Academy

Karen

I highly recommend Arnold Reading Academy.   Pris makes reading fun.   My granddaughters who have reading struggles love working with her.   She is very caring, always make them feel special and is very complimentary of their accomplishment however big or small.

The process she uses has helped them tremendously given their reading disabilities.   They love tutoring with Pris.

Carrie

My son was having behavioral issues in school (3rd grade), and it got so bad we had to transfer him to a new school. Thankfully his new teacher recognized his Dysgraphia and referred us to Arnold Reading Academy.  The weekly sessions not only helped him with his reading and writing skills, but it helped him gain self-confidence. He now enjoys reading and I catch him reading on his own. More importantly, he is writing. He writes stories and songs for fun, and prior to working with Pris it was a struggle to get him to write at all. He has come so far from where we started. I highly recommend trying Arnold Reading Academy, it will make an impact.

Allie

The success has been phenomenal. Our daughter is making tremendous strides. She has went from being in the 2nd percentile to being in the 30 percentile for her class in just 6 short months. We could not be more pleased!"  Thank you Arnold Reading Academy, we are so grateful for you!

Miss Pris is always learning. Here are some of her certificates

    Our History

Arnold Reading Academy came around because Miss Pris was trained by Al Arnold of Arnold Reading Clinic.  In 2022, Al became ill and could no longer continue teaching.  He left the clinic to Priscilla with the condition she would not change the name from Arnold. Al had over 50 years of experience in all sorts of areas of teaching from teacher to principal to teaching teachers.  Arnold Reading Academy will continue as a tribute to the great man who helped so many children learn to read and helped Priscilla find her passion!
